Benefits of a Native App
Because Trello is running as its own process and not part of your browser, you can specify a global shortcut that will always bring you to Trello, no matter what else you're doing. This shortcut is customizable, to make sure it doesn't conflict with something else.
While Trello supports browser notifications, using the Trello desktop apps allows you to receive native notifications for your operating system.
On macOS, for example, this also allows for the Dock icon to update dynamically with a notification badge showing unread activity, as well as display an icon in the menubar giving you easy access to Trello.

Similar to the global shortcut, you can specify also specify a keyboard shortcut to a Quick Add dialog box. No matter what else you're doing on your computer, you can use the Quick Add dialog to add a new card to Trello at any time.
Touch Bar
If you're using a Touch Bar compatible MacBook Pro, Trello for Desktop will display handy shortcuts here, allowing you to quickly open a new Trello window in the app, create a new card on any board, and move forward and backward in your history.
You can also tap the Boards button to see and immediately open the first four of your Starred Boards.

For instance, if you have programmed it to open a specific folder, it might have trouble following the command if you mispronounce one of the words or there are folders with similar names.Like its PC counterpart, this software includes the PC Anywhere app that works with both iOS and Android devices. It syncs all of the preferences you have set to default in the software with those devices, so you can search the web, send emails and other tasks using your voice while you’re on the go. Voice recognition software is partly defined by its ability to follow commands that go beyond dictating text, and Dragon for Mac has the same ability as PC software. You can open and close programs such as Safari, Gmail, Outlook and Microsoft Word, and you can navigate and maximize multiple folders as you work on projects. The software is just as quick at performing functions as others we reviewed as long as you are enunciating clearly and accurately with minimal verbal slip-ups.
The Menubar
As a native app, Trello for Desktop allows for a dedicated menubar with custom keyboard shortcuts, and the ability to define a Default Board that can open whenever you open Trello for Desktop.
If you need to share a board's URL with someone, Trello's built-in methods for finding the URL are all still there (see Sharing links to cards, boards, comments and actions), but you can also use the menu item 'Copy Current URL' from the Edit menu, which will copy the URL of the board or card you're currently viewing straight to the clipboard:
Keyboard Shortcuts
In addition to Trello's regular Keyboard Shortcuts, the Trello desktop apps have custom keyboard shortcuts available.

A Dedicated Trello Workspace
Admit it: As you’re reading this post, the browser tab it’s on is sitting squarely between 10 others you have open simultaneously. A few of them are probably even Trello boards.
Instead of losing your Trello boards amidst the aforementioned browser tab sea, simply click through to Trello from your dock and transport yourself to the Trellotopia, a place where productivity is seamless and no tasks are ever dropped.
Keyboard Shortcuts & Desktop Notifications
Trello for desktop now offers more granular keyboard shortcuts, as well as the ability to set custom ones. Click the gear icon in the top right corner of Trello for Desktop to create custom shortcuts to open the app, as well as a Quick Add shortcut to create a card from wherever you are.
No matter where you are, you can create a card and designate the board with one of these shortcuts. The default is set to CTRL+OPTION+Space, and when pressed (even on the home screen), it results in the ability to set a name and description for your card, as well as the board and list where it will live.
There are tons of new keyboard shortcuts available exclusively in Trello for Desktop. Here’s a list:

Desktop notifications are now a native feature, ensuring you never miss an alert in Trello. Since these notifications are filtered through your operating system, as opposed to your browser, they’ll be on their best (read: silent) behavior when you’re operating in “Do Not Disturb Mode.”

BONUS: If you are using an Apple device that has a Touch Bar, you can even cue up your starred boards, create new cards, and open boards in new windows for easy access at your fingertips.
Set Priority Boards
Across your company there are undoubtedly tons of boards, but you personally only check a few of them on a regular basis. In fact, you probably even have a favorite Trello board.
Now you can keep that board front and center. When on the board inside the desktop app, you can set that board to automatically load on startup by pressing Shift+CMND+D. You’ll know this is set because a desktop notification will pop up.
Pro tip: Keep your boards list sticky on the left side of your screen for easy navigation.
One other helpful workflow in Trello is to keep a list of your boards stuck to the left side of the app for easy navigation, almost like channels in a chat app. To do this, click on the “Boards” button in the top left corner of Trello, and scroll down to the bottom. Click the link “Always keep this menu open” and the list will stay sticky on the left side. (Note: This feature is also available in the Trello web app.)
